The first day of August was a busy day for station 4. Squad 4 and Rescue 4 were initially toned for an MVA on U.S 22. FVFD units responding to the MVA were advised that EMS reported no entrapment, and advised that station 6 would handle the MVA. Shortly after being toned for the MVA, the tones dropped for a commercial structure fire at Shuey's Dry Cleaners in Wellsburg. Wellsburg (Station 10) and Franklin (Station 7) were toned initially and arrived on scene reporting heavy smoke showing. Command requested that Follansbee fire respond with Tower 4. Tower 4 and Squad 4 responded and assisted with truck company operations. The building suffered heavy damage through out and partial roof collapse on the B side of the structure. One employee was reported injured, as well as one firefighter. FVFD as well as many other agencies responded for mutual aid. A special thanks goes out to Brooke Co. EMS, WARRS, & Brooke County EMA for providing an excellent rehab area for all of the personnel during the incident.
