History of the Follansbee Fire Department | |||
|
Follansbee Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1906. At the time it had only one truck kept in a one bay firehouse at the city building on Penn St. The alerting system was a bell which hung in a
bell tower above the firehouse. In 1906 the departments only specialties were fire
suppression and fire rescue. Specialties today consist of fire suppression, vehicle rescue, high angle rescue, confined space rescue, industrial rescue, structural rescue, trench rescue equipped and Medical First Responder. |

The fire department is now located at the intersection of Route 2 and Allegheny Street. We currently have 30+ members 16 active members and stationed in a four bay firehouse with a county EMS station in the basement.
Included in our fire district are a total of five heavy
